Describe your experience in the higher education industry before coming to Nelnet Campus Commerce.

I have been in the higher education for over 30 years, working with a diverse number of colleges and universities who provide access to education as a means to achieve career goals.

What do you enjoy about working in the higher education industry?

I love the fact that this is an industry that is focused on improving the community one student at a time with great outcomes.

Your position as Business Development Executive covers the Southwest region, including Texas; a big state with big higher education needs. How do you envision your role playing a part in meeting these needs?

My vision in this role is to provide superior customer service and assist schools in streamlining various processes by utilizing our products and services. This can lead to positive outcomes for not only students, but for the institutions as well.

What’s a unique characteristic you will bring to this role?

A unique characteristic that I bring to this role is I have worked with a variety of institutions, from state and private, to for-profit/non-profit and HBCU’s, to Hispanic-serving institutions as well as tribal colleges. All of these experiences have provided me with a wealth of insight that I can use in a variety of situations.

In this current state of remote/hybrid work, what communication channels do you find most effective for reaching associates/clients?

I believe in identifying with the client what’s the best form of communication they prefer and being attentive yet flexible to the client’s changing needs.

What motivates you to work hard?

Knowing that the work we do improves the lives of many students in assisting them to achieve their education and career goals.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

It’s not where you come from in life that’s important, but where you are going in life.

Outside of work, what are you passionate about or enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with my family and playing all kinds of sports.
