Promote Payment Plans With Confidence
New student-tested marketing materials designed to increase awareness and enrollment stability.
New Materials Have Arrived
Nelnet Campus Commerce continues to help you unlock flexible ways for students to pay for tuition in ways that fit real life. Based on engagement research, focus groups with current students, and insights shared at our Virtual Client Summit, we’ve refreshed our Payment Plan Marketing Kit with two exciting themes that speak directly to what students care about most: freedom and stress relief.
Students today expect payments to feel simple, manageable, and predictable. Rather than facing big lump-sum bills or leaning further into long-term debt, many prefer breaking tuition into bite-sized pieces that fit their budgets and lifestyles. In fact, a majority of younger learners favor installment-style payments due to predictable payments and budgeting ease.
You can now choose from two fresh campaign themes (each with a full set of print and digital assets, social content, email templates, web banners, and more) all designed to help you get in front of students where they spend their time (and attention).

Treat Your Future Self
Life’s too short for big tuition shock.
Today’s learners juggle jobs, classes, families, and expectations, and they need a payment experience that feels fair and flexible. This theme reframes payment plans as a way to take small, manageable steps toward graduation without sacrificing the things that make college life worth living. Payment plans don’t just help you pay, they help you live. By spreading tuition out in easy installments, you can budget smarter, enjoy more of student life, and still get where you’re going.
Drop The Tuition Payment Stress
Less stress. More success.
We heard students loud and clear: stress over tuition is real. It shouldn’t get in the way of education. This theme meets that feeling head-on by positioning payment plans as a dependable way to take the edge off the semester bill and keep students focused on learning (not worrying). This message tells your students that you can spread tuition payments over time so you can breathe, plan, an stay on track, without the anxiety of a big bill looming.
Why Payment Plan Participation Matters
Partnering with 2- and 4-year institutions, Nelnet researched the success of Payment Plan programs across campuses nationwide. The findings were significant:
More Credit Hours
On average, students on a Payment Plan took an additional 11 credit hours.
Retain Students
Payment Plan programs directly increased student retention by 9%.
Opportunity for Enrollment
On average 1 in 5 students enrolled in a payment plan, so the opportunity for payment plan awareness is out there.
Payment Plans falls in line with our department mission: to enable and assist students in meeting financial obligations and focusing on financial integrity and accountability and to provide superior service by ensuring an exceptional educational experience has been had by our students. We are confident that partnering with Nelnet as a service provider who fits our mission.
